John Barrasso Wins Race, Republican Primary Called

John Barrasso Secure Republican Party Nomination

John Barrasso, Wyoming’s incumbent senator, has won the Republican U.S. Senate primary election.

The Associated Press called the race Tuesday night, around 10 p.m. EST.

Barrasso, 68, has served in the Senate since 2007 and will face Democrat Charlie Hardy, an Air Force veteran, in the Nov. 8 general election.

  • Other candidates: 25%

Barrasso is a member of the Senate Republican leadership and is the current chairman of the Senate Indian Affairs Committee.

He is a staunch conservative and has supported President Donald Trump’s agenda, including the 2017 tax cuts and the appointment of conservative judges to the federal bench.

Strong Wyoming Base

Barrasso is a popular figure in Wyoming, where he has won re-election twice by wide margins.
